IMAX Victoria Film Festival
From February 20 to March 15, discover the world on the biggest screen in BC at the IMAX® Victoria Film Festival. This year’s festival celebrates the return of IMAX® Victoria classic documentaries, bringing back some of the most beloved documentary films from our theatre’s history.
This year, we’re excited to introduce two new documentaries to the festival, Coral Sea and Secrets of Great Salt Lake, offering stunning new journeys into ocean conservation and interconnected ecosystems.
PLUS, this year’s festival is bringing back Lasting Impressions 3D, a breathtaking immersive art experience that brings iconic Impressionist masterpieces to life. Witness Van Gogh’s Starry Night, wander through Monet’s swaying poplars, and rediscover the emotional power of art through cutting edge 3D Motion Sculpting technology.

On February 18, 2026, at 7:15 pm, join award-winning Canadian conservation photojournalist Shane Gross for an exclusive in-person Q&A and presentation following the screening of Shark Kingdom 3D!
Shane will be joining us live in the theatre to share behind-the-scenes stories from his underwater photography work, insights into marine and freshwater conservation, and what it takes to capture some of the world’s most breathtaking wildlife imagery.

Butterfly Journey

From Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson comes The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the first of a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien.
The film follows title character Bilbo Baggins, who—along with the Wizard Gandalf and 13 Dwarves, led by the legendary warrior Thorin Oakenshield—is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome Dragon Smaug. Along the path, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of ingenuity and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of a “precious” ring tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways he cannot begin to know.
The screenplay for “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” is by Fran Walsh & Philippa Boyens & Peter Jackson & Guillermo del Toro. Jackson is also producing the film, together with Carolynne Cunningham, Zane Weiner and Fran Walsh. The executive producers are Alan Horn, Toby Emmerich, Ken Kamins and Carolyn Blackwood, with Boyens and Eileen Moran serving as co-producers. “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” and the second and third films of the trilogy are productions of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM), with New Line managing production. Warner Bros. Pictures is handling worldwide theatrical distribution, with select international territories as well as all international television distribution being handled by MGM.
